For the good of environmental impact assessment the author argues for six changes: clarification of which projects have EIAs, the widening of the scope of environment, tightening up methodological content, greater access to the EIA process by affected parties, extension of the environmental management over the life of the project and commitment to Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA).
