"Freedman v Union Group plc and another" CA 4 March 1997. The plaintiff was a property consultant who effected an introduction between a prospective buyer and seller on the understanding that a fee would be payable in the event of a sale. The buyer proposed a take-over of the vendor company, so the plaintiff revised the agreement to be paid a fixed sum on conclusion of `anticipated transaction`. Following a denial of any liability in respect of the introduction, the plaintiff commenced proceedings to recover £25,000 plus VAT. Claim was dismissed and plaintiff appealed. Appeal allowed.
