"Midland Bank plc v Douglas Allen", QBD 4 July 1997. M granted further loan facilities following gross over-valuation of a factory. M learned that trading had been bad after pressing unsuccessfully for execution of the mortgage. M`s receivers sold factory at a substantial loss. D claimed M contributorily negligent for approving loan facilities. "Held" award should be reduced by 30%.
