Outlines findings and methodology of the DoE funded study of the urbanisation effects of the DoE 1992-based household projections. Describes the application of the `standardised land requirement` approach. Finds that housing amounts to seven tenths of land in urban uses and that 50% of development is on recycled land, and that between 1991 and 2016 1.3% of England`s areas could be converted from rural to urban uses.
