Government faces pressure from local authorities to approve development plans for greenfield sites, due to local authorities` need to satisfy housing demands. Lists some of the councils demands on greenbelt land. Andres Duany a guru of New Urbanism, who specialises in building `neighbourhoods`, believes that the green belt is doomed, but that only the wrong sort of development is bad.
