According to Richard Ellis in Birmingham, property investment was higher last year than any year since 1990, and the trend is set to continue. DTZ Debenham Thorpe Research monitored £16bn of direct investment transactions of £1m plus size within the UK commercial property market in 1997. Overseas investors accounted for around £4bn, its highest recorded annual total.
