ChD 12 June 1997. Compensation for compulsory purchase resulting from the entry by an acquiring authority on land pursuant to Compulsory Purchase Act 1965 s11, even if it has not been quantified, is a `sum recoverable by virtue of an enactment` within the Limitation Act 1980 s9, and a cause of action to recover it accrues at the time of entry. Where, therefore, a claim for compensation was submitted more than six years after the acquiring authority`s entry on the land. Held, claim statute-barred. (Taken from headnote).
