CA 20 November 1997. The council appellants granted the respondent a licence to occupy a flat on a shared basis. Council gave notice to the respondent. The county court held that the respondent had a secure tenancy of the flat. The council appealed, arguing that licence of a bedroom and shared use of whole flat did not create a secure tenancy. Held: Appeal was allowed. The council`s contentions were unanswerable.
