Lake District threatens new tax on holiday homes - 1998 - Times 19 May 1998, 8(1) .

Lakeland DC is demanding the right to tax second-home owners in an attempt to repel outsiders whom they claim are pricing locals out of the housing market. The council hopes to push a Private Bill through Parliament which would allow them to tax second homes in order to fund local housing projects.
