An RICS report, to be published shortly, suggests that public inquiries should be held into the siting of overhead high-voltage cables, to address the public's fears that such cables pose a health risk. The House Builders Federation has rejected the suggestion, citing government assurances that the cables pose no danger, and the delays which such inquiries would cause.
