Discusses GVA Grimley's 2000 Forecasts which looks at the impact of the 2000 rating revaluation and assesses the likely level of Uniform Business Rates (UBR). Rental values have increased by an average of 7.5% across all sectors between 1993 & 1998. Retail rents have increased the most, and industrial the least; rents have increased more in the north than the south. The forecast predicts the new UBR multiplier for the tax year 2000/2001 will be 46p in the pound, a decrease on 1999/2000, but coupled with higher rateable values.
