The IPD index for the year to the end of May 1998, shows that institutional funds are outperforming quoted property companies for the first time in 15 years. Institutional property produced total returns of 11.8% whilst the best performing property company, Brixton Estate, produced only 8.5%. Other Datastream figures show that Pillar has been the best performing property company during four of the past five years, outperforming other quoted property companies, the IPD index and the FTSE index.
