Avoiding corrosion under metal roofs - 1987 - Building Technology & Management 25(5) October/November 1987, 4-11(4) .

Reviews research undertaken jointly by the BRE, the BSI, the Lead Development Association and the Lead Contractors` Association on the corrosion of lead roofs due to condensation . Describes the advantages of using the warm roof method of construction, though stresses that there is a risk of sub-atmospheric pressure drawing in rainwater. To overcome this problem the Building Research Establishment, Department of the Environment, Lead Development Association and Lead Contractors` Association have put forward a proposal of a ventilated warm roof for inclusion in the revision of BS 5250 . Concludes by considering problems of poor design and workmanship.
