PriceWaterhouse Coopers predicts that house prices will rise by an average of 10% throughout the remainder of 1999 and 2000, before slowing to 6% in 2001. However it concludes that a repeat of the 80s boom & bust is not likely because levels of personal indebtedness are lower, the divergence of house prices from trend is less market and monetary policy is geared to prevent it.
