CA 14 May 1999. C served M with a notice of an assured shorthold tenancy specifying a six month tenancy from 21 December. M did not enter into possession until 8 January and a representative of C inserted this date on the tenancy agreement. C later served notice for possession and commenced proceedings. Judge found s20 notice was valid but s21 notice defective and dismissed possession proceedings. M contended s20 notice also invalid and appealed. Appeal allowed.
