Planning guidance has been published which encourages the identification of the best environmental solutions for telecommunications development. The guidance, Planning for telecommunication accompanies the Town and County Planning (General Permitted Development) (Amendment) Order 1999, which will give people more time to comment on proposals for ground-based telecommunications masts under permitted development rights and stronger planning controls in Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs), which will come into force on 9 July 1999.
