According to the National Council of Building Material Producers (BMP) the construction industry is past the worst of the slowdown, and will be aided in 2000 by an increase in public expenditure and faster economic growth. BMP sees a 1.5% increase in construction output in 1999, down from 1.6% in 1998, and predicts a rise of 3.5% in output in 2000 and 2001.
