Hackney Council has entered into a business partnership with a long-standing group of squatters that will turn the former trespassers into managers of two streets of houses. The council has received a £1m urban regeneration grant from Europe, which would have been lost if the squatters prevented the work being completed on time, and is receiving business taxes from the squatters entrepreneurial ventures.
