The Nationwide house price index increased by 1.9% in November, with the average price of a house rising £300 a week. It reports an annual rate of increase of 13.3%, the fastest pace since the 80s boom. However the Halifax reported a fall of 0.5% in its seasonally adjusted index for November, and an annual increase of 10.7%. The decrease is seen as a correction, with the market moderating rather than starting to decline.
