Farmers are cutting hedges to meet new rules from Brussels. OS maps, used by farmers to justify the size of their land, include hedges, grassy banks and other wildlife habitats. It is estimated that a 1,000 acre farm could lose up to £5,000 a year if hedges are maintained.
