CA 22 February 2000. "Holbeck Hall Hotel Ltd and another v Scarborough BC". A landslip caused the collapse of a building owned by the claimants, who brought an action for damages against the Council, claiming that as the owners of the cliffs and neighbouring land they owed a duty of care to maintain them. The High Court allowed the claim. "Held" Council's appeal allowed.
