The Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution reports that Britain must plan for a 60% cut in the fossil fuels it uses if it is to contribute to the reduction in global warming. An increase in nuclear power was one solution suggested but the Commission strongly favoured other alternatives such as reduction in energy demand.
