Lobbying for heritage property

Lobbying for heritage property - 2000 - Times 18 August 2000, 25(1) .

The Historic Houses Association (HHA) believes that financial support for the upkeep of historic privately-owned properties, should move away from grants, which are only available in a crisis, towards tax relief. Since the scrapping of 'one estate election' as part of the Finance Act 1998, the HHA lobbies for VAT relief on maintenance and repairs on old buildings, and believes rates should be homogenised at 5% with repairs on new buildings.
