In September the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), the Construction Industry Council (CIC) and the Construction Confederation meet to develop 'work-related' foundation courses aimed at solving the skills shortage in the industry. Latest figures from the Universities and Colleges Admissions Services reveal that applicants to construction and civil engineering courses dropped by about 40% between 1994-1999.
