Despite this week's Land Registry figures for 1 April to 30 June, which show that the average home in England now costs more than £100,000, there are signs of a slow-down in the housing market. According to the Nationwide building society, the cost of an average home fell by 0.2% in July. Research by a network of independent estate agents also reveals slight price falls in August.
