Provides an overview of where to seek consultation on fire safety issues during the course of a construction project. Clarifies the differing responsibilities of the various consultative bodies. For instance, during the building consultation process all matters relating to compliance with the requirements of the Building Regulations should be addessed by the building control department of the local authority. Once a building is occupied responsibility for enforcing the requirements of the various pieces of fire safety legislation resides with the local fire authority.
