PPG3 guidance aims to put 60% of new housing on brownfield land by 2008. Among the measures included in the guidance to promote sustainable development are: concentrating the majority of additional housing within urban locations; using land more efficiently through maximising the re-use of sites and the conversion of existing buildings; adopting a sequential approach to the allocation of land and managing the release of that land. Suggests that some of the proposals are not practical.
