Recommends that surveyors, architects and engineers with responsibility for analysing the causes of delay, for the purposes of granting extensions of time or paying additional costs for prolongation or disruption, take note of a number of important recent judgements. Contains a brief summary of these cases. In "Ascon Contracting Limited v Alfred McAlpine Construction Isle of Man Limited", the court held that the float was neutral as between the various defaulting parties. In the case of "Henry Boot Construction (UK) Limited v Malmaison Hotel (Manchester) Ltd" the court found that the architect is entitled to consider the contractor responsible for concurrent delays when establishing whether or not a relevant event had in fact caused delay.
