The RICS has welcomed the move, which will give 2m property leaseholders protection from unscrupulous landlords. Looks at commonhold and the new right to manage. The latter will be available to tenants with collective enfranchisement rights. Under a collective enfranchisement, tenants or their management company step into the freeholder's shoes to manage commercial premises. It has yet to be revealed how this will work in the context of the right to manage. Considers issues relating to the tenants' management company, and residential service charges.
