Rural aid plans get green light

A rural development package for Scotland, which includes the less-favoured area subsidy payment proposals, has been decided by the agricultural structures and rural development (STAR) committee and should now be confirmed by the European Commission. It is estimated that the measures in the plan will be worth more than £685m to Scottish farming and forestry between 2000 to 2006.
