A DETR report has attacked the standard of training in urban design. It suggests that relevant professional institutions should make urban design a requirement of their accreditation criteria and urges the RIBA to encourage universities to develop urban design specialisms, claiming that 'urban design is central to the task of achieving an urban renaissance'.
