- 2000
- Contract Journal 406(6304) 22 November 2000, 6(1) .
Latest statistics from the Health & Safety Executive show that construction site fatalities have risen by 60% in the first 6 months of 2000, compared with the same period in 1999. In response to these worrying figures, before the end of 2000 the Major Contractors Group (MCG) will be announcing new health and safety measures to reduce site deaths. These will come into force on major sites in January 2001. However, union safety representatives will not have a role. Includes a table listing the main causes of site deaths and suggested remedies.
