Examines how parties to commercial occupancy agreements may actively try to avoid the lease renewal process given to business tenants by the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 Part II. Discusses the range of methods used for this purpose which include: licence agreements; tenancies at will; short term leases not exceeding six months; express agreements to contract out of Part II. Concludes with a review of the Law Commission's proposals for reforming the current procedure for contracting out of Part II of the Act. Case law.
