Reviews the progress of Constructionline, the national register of qualified firms set up to offer a centralised vetting system for contractors and clients. Contractors generally endorse the initiative, and to date about 60 main contractors are using the service. However, contractors are concerned that public sector clients are not using the register, and the technical assessment is not sufficiently thorough. Discusses both areas and outlines how constructionline is overcoming initial barriers.
