Describes how JMP Consultants have used an asset management system to help local authorities meet high-level targets for flood risk areas. The system will enable local authorities to identify the extent of its flood risk areas, and ensure that un-maintained features are prioritised. The first phase involves the local authority working with consultants and the Environment Agency to identify known assets and problem areas. This information is supplemented by the results of a site inspection and an interactive management system is generated, from which prioritised maintenance programmes can be produced.
