Boom-bust property warning disputed

Boom-bust property warning disputed - 2000 - Independent 6 December 2000, 9(1) .

The head of the Financial Services Authority, Sir Howard Davies', warning that borrowers are being put at risk by ever-increasing home loans, has been rejected by the Halifax, the UK's largest mortgage lender. The latter contends that although house prices have risen again, they are still affordable compared with recent booms. It argues that the housing market is set for low, stable growth.
