Bank of England data indicates that the UK property market has reached another milestone. During the first 3Qs of 2000 lending to the property industry from regulated banks reached a record £51.7bn. This equals the last peak in the market in 1989, and DTZ Research predicts lending will reach £75bn by the end of 2000. However, suggests there are few fears among UK industry players that the banks are once again fuelling an unhealthy 1980-style development boom. Graphs.
