Following on from PPG3 and "By design, a guide to good urban design in the planning system" by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment, government has announced new measures aimed at improving the quality of house design in inner cities and on greenfield sites. One new measure is that registered social landlords will have to start using Housing Quality Indicators from April 2000; these allow the design, performance and location of a housing scheme to be assessed.
