39,000 houses a year to be built in 'overcrowded' South-east - 2000 - Independent 19 December 2000, 4(1) .

The housing minister has announced that 39,000 new homes are to be built in the South-east each year, 6000 more than the figure recommended by Serplan, the consortium of 118 South-east planning authorities.
