Agency set to force through land purchase

Agency set to force through land purchase - 2000 - Financial Times 30-31 December 2000, 4(1) .

The regional development agency for the south west is set to become the first such body to use its powers to forcibly buy property. Describes the agency's ambitious £100m plan to redevelop the deprived area of Cornwall around South Crofty, a tin mine that closed two years ago. Although South Crofty's owner has already agreed to sell the site to a company which plans to re-open the mines, the agency is using compulsory purchase orders to buy the site.
