Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott has announced an £8.4bn boost for local transport. £4.4bn of this will be available for local transport, covering major projects as well as a range of smaller schemes, and the remainder will be invested in roads. Provides details of local projects that have been given the go-ahead. These include light rail schemes, new bypasses, relief roads and advanced bus systems.
