Looks at problems facing contractors moving into long-term maintenance contracts in view of the fact that global warming appears to be reality and the cost to Britain's built environment may run into billions of pounds. A permanent change in the environment will affect the construction industry more than any other industry. A key document is the Foundation for the Built Environment report, "Potential implications of climate change in the built environment", which contains technical assessment of the potential impact of climate change and suggests potential strategies to counter the effects.
