Insurers are not happy that the government restrictions on the building of new homes on flood plains will be sufficient. They are concerned that application of the regulations will depend on local planning authorities. Looks at the proposed PPG25, the effects of flooding on insurance and insurers and the problem of building on flood plains and catchment areas, especially in view of the government plans to build 3m new homes.
