Calls for government assistance for organic farming

Calls for government assistance for organic farming - 2001 - Western Mail 26 January 2001, 13(2) .

In 1997 the UK organic foods market was worth £40m. In 2001 this figure is predicted to rise to £764m. Clearly, the demand for organic food is rising and this new business offers a ray of hope for Britain's crises-plagued farmers. However, there are concerns that government needs to play a more positive role in expanding the production of organic food.
