According to figures produced by the Empty Homes Agency, the number of empty houses in England has barely fallen for the fifth year in succession, and government targets for reducing the number of empty homes have not been met. The proportion of empty homes fell from 3.7% to 3.6% of the total stock, in the year to April 2000.
