Discusses the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 which has introduced an interest rate of 8% above the Bank of England base rate for late payments for contracts entered into from 1 November 2000 by small businesses. A small business is defined in the Act has having 50 or fewer employees on the day the contract was signed. Notes that this will have greatest impact in adjudication claims.
