Looks at the guidance offered by new DETR publications on housing capacity studies and releasing sites for development and how this will enable targets set out in the revised PPG3 to be met. Notes that brownfield sites may provide only a third of the total capacity and the need to consider as many alternatives as possible including the use of empty properties, the conversion of car parks and office buildings and the subdivision of larger houses.
