The RICS survey of the housing market for the three months to January 2001 has shown the number of surveyors reporting prices was up by 2%, in line with the RICS projection for an annual growth rate of 6% over the year. The number of sales reported is also up on the previous quarter, although still below the peak reached during the three month period to January 2000. Whilst the number of unsold properties has also increased to 10% above last years average and future price rises are likely to be modest surveyors remain optimistic for the coming months.
