Discusses government's new facilities management contract, called GC/Works/10 (2000) which is flexible, the price can be fixed for the contract term or adjusted seasonally and quite fair. Advises there are a few amendments contractors should be aware of before they use it. The options for dealing with poor performance by the contractor. Points out the clause for valuing variations is too short and does not set out the circumstances in which the JCT/ICE-style rules for valuation apply. The employer has termination rights if the contractor is late in organising the preparatory work prior to performance of the services. Advises that contractors should be proactive in their representations.
