Nationwide has reported a drop of 0.8% in the average price of a home in the UK in February 2001. This represents the sharpest monthly decline in over five years. The building society attributes this fall to a slackening in the London market, and declines in Wales. In contrast 2001 has seen a considerable growth in personal borrowing.
